Nine Years Old

As unbelievable as it seems, our Jake has grown into a
Big Nine-Year Old!

We celebrated with ice-cream cake and presents,

and with an evening at Carowinds!
He's crazy about huge roller coasters, so this was an outing he had been really looking forward to.

A well-timed thunder storm came through just before we got to the park, which meant cooler temperatures, no waiting in lines, and lots of teeny little frogs to catch. Perfect!

And on our drive home, we sang 'Happy Birthday' to him in as many styles and crazy voices as we could think of.

It was a happy day.

Ahhh can't believe Jacob is 9! Are you sure you haven't mis-counted! Looks like the perfect b-day for him.

what a happy day indeed! tiny frogs to boot! i did a rub-my-eyes-in-disbelief when i read "9 years old". wow. i must have that ice cream cake recipe. stat! hugs to you.

by the way, i've lost 8 lbs in 4 weeks and only have 52 to go...pounds, that is. sheesh. counting calories really works. i swore i'd never count calories and it has been the most effective way to change my lifestyle of eating, bar none. i've had so many physical/emotional set backs and it is amazing to me that i've got -8 lbs to show for my diligence. losing fat isn't "hard"--it's just a matter of diligence. how is your health?
